The most powerful strategies in life are counterintuitive.
Most assuredly I say to you, unless a corn of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.((John 12:24))
Whoever seeks to save his life shall lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.((Luke 17:33))
For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.((Matthew 13:12))
These words of Jesus suggest that everyone has raw assets which can either be laid up to rot or processed to increase in value. [Tweet that]
When you focus on keeping what you have to yourself, you will ultimately lose it. But when you think of how you can use it to help others, you will ultimately multiply it. Share on XEven when you think you are broke or helpless, there is something you have that others need. And the seed for your next level is always right where you are. This seed will come in various forms but there are three forms that are common to all: knowledge, skill and experience.
Everything you have gone through in life has equipped you with knowledge, skills and experience that can help others. You can keep this to yourself and smoulder on the inside. Or you can let it out and blaze forth, lighting the path for people who might have otherwise stumbled in the dark.
It’s natural to get engrossed in your own problems but that will only keep you down. The solution to your problem lies in identifying the opportunity it presents to help others solve their problems. Pause and think about that.
In other words, avail people of your knowledge, skills and experience. See how you can use what you have learnt to create value, solve problems and meet the needs of others around you.
One of the simplest ways to do this is to teach what you know. Like the woman who worked her way out of heart-sinking debt by pouring her little oil into empty vessels, you can literally change your life forever by pouring yourself into others.
The good news is that you don’t need to be certified by any body to do this. You only need to satisfy four conditions:
1. Commit to genuinely helping others
Yes, it is important that you make money but you will not have to worry about that if you get the other elements right. I promise. Your primary motivation should be a genuine desire to help others and create real transformation in their lives.
2. Connect at your level
Teach what you know and teach at your level. You don’t need to know everything; you only need to know more than the people you want to teach.
3. Cash in on your wealth of experience
Don’t teach something you just found online or read in a book but have not actually experienced or put to work. First practise what you want to teach; then share what you learn. It is absolutely important that you have proven expertise.
4. Create a platform for delivery
Package the transformation you want to deliver into a form that can be readily accessed by your target audience. I recommend creating an online course. If you would like to know how to do that, click here to ask your questions or request a free training.
Conclusion
The richest and most fulfilled people on earth are those whose lives and work have significantly impacted others for good. You will always be broke, helpless and stranded as long as you focus on yourself and your problems. But when you deliberately maximise opportunities to live a life of influence and impact, you can begin to enjoy true fulfilment. One simple way to get started on this path is to start teaching what you know, deliberately and consistently.
